Understanding the Impact on Mental Wellness, Relationships, and Daily Functioning

Technology is a powerful tool that shapes communication, work, education, entertainment, and daily life. However, many digital systems are intentionally engineered to maximize engagement in ways that can become unhealthy for some individuals.

This course explores cyber addiction and compulsive digital behaviors through a recovery coaching lens. Participants will examine how excessive or maladaptive engagement with digital technology—including social media, gaming, online gambling, pornography, online shopping, and compulsive internet use—can negatively impact emotional wellness, relationships, productivity, finances, and overall daily functioning.

Participants will gain an understanding of the neuroscience behind digital dependency, the role of dopamine and persuasive technology, warning signs of problematic use, and practical coaching strategies that support healthier behavioral patterns and improved life balance.
